Yeah I hear ya. Steam is almost pointless when you have slow net, but at least you can get games really cheap when those sales happen. Digital can also take up a lot of your HDD space, another reason why I prefer physical.

Load up on vitamin C.
Drink some tea with honey if you have a sore throat.
Eucalyptus oil in a spare handkerchief is good for clearing your nose, just sniff it every now and then (not constantly, and don't actually let it touch your nose).

Besides that just drink lots of fluid, clear soups usually work well.

If you don't want to take vitamin C tablets you can use fresh lemon juice in your honey tea.
Kiwi fruit (aka Chinese gooseberry) is higher in vitamin C but I guess they could be expensive there idk
