No...
Oh alright...
5. Yes - Close To The Edge
The 18 min title track would do it, you'd think. While that is one of my favourite songs ever, they also have two other 10 min prog epics on the album. How do they remember this shit live? It's so rich in complexity!
4. Dream Theater - Images And Words
The sheer technical skill of it! The intricacy, the complexity, and oh, the time sigs! Don't you just love a 15/8 time sig? LaBrie's best performance on an album without doubt.
3. Metallica - ...And Justice For All
Full to the brim with metal epics, this was the first album without Cliffy. While they didn't replace him with anywhere near as good a bassist, the songs they wrote over that 3 year break are brilliant. The title track is the standout for me.
2. Rush - Moving Pictures
Had it not been for the filler, 2112 would have been in this position. This album is a lot better as a whole. The songs are shorter than their previous albums, but it most definitely works. YYZ is my favourite instrumental ever. This album is brilliant!
1. Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory
Fellow DT fans would probably have me beaten for placing this album above Images And Words, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for concept albums. Just look at this list, about 20 of them are concpet albums. The intricacy of the guitar solos is awesome, and this is definitely DT's best lyrical effort. Labrie's return to form aswell. But I guess it all boils down to this fact. I enjoy this album more than I do any other...
Well Johnny Wonderman I am very dissapointed that you didnt put the song COMFORTABLY NUMB under your top song from Pink Floyd

That list was goodishness, but I though Origin of Symmetry should have been higher.
And more Pantera was needed.......

Well I think that if you listened to the live song you wouldnt listen to the studio recording again
THe live song is 3 minutes longer and those minutes are guitar solo. Pink Floyd is a live band. End of discussion

I have heard the version from Pulse, but it doesn't change anything. I listed my top albums (not including live ones), not songs. And the studio recording is brilliant, despite the Pulse version having a longer solo. Pulse was recorded post Waters, therefore most of Pink Floyd was missing...Originally posted by MasterOfGravity
