    Default Boot Disk question.

Are there any boot disks available for PSX that don't reqiure you to have a mod-chip or other game enhancer plugged into it? If so, which would you recommend? Thanks.

There are a few ones that you can buy. You can also try the swap trick which is free. you can find my tutorial stickied in this forum.

What kind of problems are you having?
It takes a lot of practice.

Yeah, if you follow the FAQ's guidelines, it's really not that hard to do. It may take a bit of practice, but it's not something that's terribly difficult to get the hang of.

This is my post on that thread.

It runs fine on my pc when I use it with epsxe (the burned copy I mean). Any suggestions?

You have to do it right when it turns black. If the game works on the emulator, there's no reason it shouldn't work on your Playstation as well, so try it once more.

Could it possibly be my PSX model? The model number says SCPH- 9001 and the date is August 1999. I'm guessing maybe it isn't an old enough model. Oh and it's NTSC.

I am pretty sure that it works on all models of PlayStation.

Bah! Still can't get passed the black screen. Either I'm just not timing it right or my PSX doesn't work with the trick. It stays stuck on the black screen. Does it take long to load? Meh nevermind, I appreciate you guys helping me out. Thanks.

If it stays loading on the black screen you are doing it wrong. Make sure that you also burn your CDs at a low speed.

Yeah, I burned one with CloneCD and one with, CDRWin, I think, both at the lowest speed possible.

Oh and when I say both I mean I tried two different burned games.

PSX eXchange will allow you to swap discs. it comes with a spring for the PS and a little tab for the PS1.
