Dreamcast Image Problems

Since Gundam Side Story was mentioned, I'd like to ask if I need to burn this game a certain way.

I always burn my Dreamcast games by mounting the image to a virtual drive using Daemon Tools, then I use Alcohol 120%'s Copy Wizard.

It's always worked before, but when I tried to burn Gundam, I got an error that said "Illegal Mode for this CD."

What format is the CD Image in to start with?

Alcohol 120% comes with it's own problems for a few Dreamcast games only the odd one or two but it does have problems

It's in .img format. It also came with a .sub file and a .ccd file.

hmm that would be cloneCD format, depending on the version of CloneCD it may have problems whatever you use to burn it with :/

The Illegal Mode error was that from Daemon Tools or Alcohol?

Alcohol.

I used the same process I outlined in my first post, and Alcohol started burning, got up to 32%, and stopped because of that Illegal Mode Error.

(This is the same copy of the game that was uploaded to YouSendIt a couple days ago, if that helps.)

Since Gundam was in CloneCD format, you must burn the game with CloneCD. Just to let you know, yes, it does work once burned.

Not realy I didn't get that copy what you can try though is getting DiscJuggler and creating a CD Image with that from the Daemon drive (that way you will see if that reports an error or stops without using up a CD-R) anyway if that works just use DiscJuggler to burn it, the free version only limits the speed you burn at and can't burn DVD size images so the free version is perfect for this

ISO buster is worth looking at just to give the CD Image a surface scan and check it's in a good readable state,if it's not then it's a bad image

20by20: Thanks, but I don't think that's it. I've had other games in Clone CD Format before, and they worked fine.

Zorlon: I actually have DiscJuggler Pro 4.5. I'll try making an image.

And just so I know what I'm doing, burn settings for DiscJuggler should be

- Mode1/DVD
- RAW Write checked
- Overburn checked

And leave everything else as it is. Right?

Mode1/DVD ? not CD,it's been a while since I used DJ so I'm wondering is that right

with DJ it's fine left as default for everything

I know it's not a DVD, I think Mode 1/DVD is for both CDs and DVDs, since, when you want to burn an image with DiscJuggler, you have to select the "Burn CD and DVD images" option.

I forgot to mention that I actually have burned a few Dreamcast games with DisJuggler. I prefer Alcohol, and almost always use it, but some of my games came with a notice saying "this MUST be burned with DiscJuggler version 4.X."

And me, being a dumb, computer-illiterate person, was not certainly going to take any chances.

Anyway, I got those settings from another guide, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Yeah like I said Alcohol has problems with some dreamcast games but it is only a few

anyway if creating a CD Image with DJ works ok and ISObuster finds no errors then go for a burn and see if it works this time, if not I would try getting the game again another time

Well, I scanned it with ISO Buster, and all files were readable, but when I tried to make an image with DiscJuggler, my computer reset on me.
