There are some pretty good Saturn-only games, namely Guardian Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, and all of the Panzer Dragoon series. And I'll just mention Nights into Dreams, in case Xena checks this thread out.

Hey, easy there bub. The GC is good. But I won't get into that. But yeah, I guess that pirating was very common for the DC.

Sorry I guess i went slightly crazy. I just can't hack it when someone insults saga that way but i am slightly annoyed that they brought sonic games onto the GC but not on the PS2. Plus i might say that the new Zelda game coming out looks pretty good.

That legendary RPG that was on the Dreamcast is I think called Skies of Arcadia. The port of this game is on the Gamecube called Skies of Arcadia: Legends, which I own.

do you think that dreamcast (and saturn before it) would have been more popular if sega had the fore thought to make the newer systems backwards compatible with the older systems like sony did with the playstation 2? i know that was a pretty big selling point for me as i already owned a ps (and several games) by the time ps2 came out.

    just a thought

DS a flop? That's why it's pwning the PSP in Japan I guess . Of course that's where it really counts.

Plus the DS is getting a lot more RPG's(my personal fav)than the PSP has lined up. I personally have and love both though.

The saturn was a flop outside of Japan, but it was in no way a failure in Japan. It actually did quite well, and outsold the Playstation for many months. The playstation was no instant success story like you guys seem to think.

And the Dreamcast also did excellent for the first year or so. Advertising was nuts, you couldnt beat the US advertisement of 9-9-99, and Dreamcasts were no where to be seen when they came out.

Sega fails to capture lasting appeal, and the failure (these never took off, not when they were released or afterwards) of the 32x and CD drove away one thing that they needed. Third Party Support. You see, game companies like Electronic Arts lived on the Genesis, thats where they got popular, now look at them.

The Saturn was a failure, I think Sega tried too hard to make the best console ever saw. Marketing was crap except from a few good ads, developping kit wasn't even good at best. Game developpers tried hard to make good games, but not alot suceeded. Now on the technical side, the Saturn was a "beast" for it's time, but that power was far from being unleashed, and the loading times were... horrible.

I know that alot of the people hated the new remixed Sega Saturn 3D pad, the round thingie which was a sucker to play any games with compared to the Genesis-like one. Perfection is hard to meet, but damn that was a stupid move.

Sega wanted to re-gain their fans with the Dreamcast which is certainly a good console. But ads outside japan we're rare to be seen. It was somehow hiding in the dark. Then the PSX took the market, probably because the developpers saw an easy console to code on. PSX doesn't have as much GFX quality, but the collection of games is immense. Plus they were giving a free demo disc with every PSX, something no one had done before. People were hooked with that fake bargain, and hooked hard.

Sega still rocks at games, except maybe racing games which I don't see why people do love them.

I think that sega will eventually get back into the console business but the problem with the dreamcast is they hurried it and as polobunny. there wasn't much advertising on it. if there was at the time then i would be willing to bet the sega team would still be in the console business today.

I just thought! Is there a dreamcast emulator?
