Benchmarks higher than the GTX 650, but at the cost of sucking more power.

Both are alright, but at best, he'd get normal settings on something like Skyrim. But if he wants decent, those are perfect for the job.

What type of power are you looking for, because the best of the graphics cards that are in reasonable pricing break your limit for a good pc. How about you extend your range just a bit before going for a gfx card.

I know, it's just what type of graphics whoring are we talking about here, is it the spend half a grand like me looking at the top line crap or go for a relatively weaker, but more affordable card which he can happily play games on.

The half a grand thing is way lower than what I actually spent on it, but I should have been reasonable.
