I'm having a controller problem with Super Mario All Stars for SNES. My controller works fine with other ROMs (Mario Bros on NES and Golden Axe on Sega Master System). Super Mario All Stars starts up, shows that it recognizes my controller (a Dragonrise PS3 USB controller) and responds to the START button. Then it goes to the game selection where you can pick from Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 2, or Super Mario 3. When I pick Super Mario Bros the game starts up and responds to the START button. Then I can't move Mario left, right, jump, or do anything. A similar thing happens with Super Mario 2 and Super Mario 3.
I tried downloading the Super Mario All Stars ROM from Emuparadise, Romnation, and Doperoms but I have the same problem with all. I also tried Super Mario World but have the same problem with that. I'm using RetroPie 3.3.1 with EmulationStation on a Kano (Raspberry Pi 2).
Could it be something with my controller configuration for the SNES emulator? If so, how do I fix that?
I believe that the SNES emulators that come with RetroPie 3.3.1 are PocketSNES (RetroArch), SNES9X and PiSNES.
