Default 28,258 errors in one ISO

    whoa...

That was my reaction when after scanning with CDMage: Animorphs - Shattered Reality (US) for PSX, a game that I got from YouSendIt, and saw that there were 28,258 errors. Some of the errors were in sectors that had no files--I guess that's a form of copy protection--but most of the 20000+ errors were in the same file: FINAL.DA
Needless to say, none of the errors were repairable.

    But I did set a new personal record bboth for most errors ever found in one ISO, and for most errors found in the same file in an ISO. ^^;

But I don't expect you to take my word for it:

That's Pretty bad, I don't blame you for getting a new one, but keep that just in case you can import a good sector that the other one might be bad

Does anyone here have an error-free FINAL.DA file for that game? It's only about 60 MB , so it wouldn't be too much trouble to upload that file to YouSendIt.

I'm the one who upped it. I got the game 2 or 3 years ago from an upload on my hotline server I used to run (basically a fancy ftp with extra features). Game plays fine for me on a real PSX, but on epsxe the company ads and title screen load very very slow.

Which means the company ads and title screen are probably in FINAL.DA.
And since I use ePSXe and many other people who I share/trade my games with use ePSXe, I guess I either have to find another copy of the game, or an error-free copy of that file to import into the ISO.
    And there's nothing on Emule...hmm...

Well, don't worry about it Kryptin, but please from now on scan your games with CDMage before uploading them.

I'm not picky about errors all I care about is that the game runs. Though I know some people like you are.

Heh I'm running cdmage right now on Rollcage Stage 2 which I just ripped to upload, but I don't think I should. It has a tons of errors and I was expecting so since clone cd took an hour and half to rip which is not normal at all. It's halfway done scanning and errors are upto 86,000 so far which already totally blows your record away.

Funny thing is the iso works perfectly as far as I can tell on epsxe.

    EDIT: It's now upto 101,000!!!

Maybe you should try ripping it again? Maybe using something else other than CloneCD?

But how can a game with that many errors work fine in ePSXe?
Now I'm starting to wonder if it's that important for an ISO to be error free.

Maybe someone like Zorlon can explain all this for us...

actually those errors are supposed to be there because the way sony did their copy protection was by including errors in the disc itself.....so anytime u rip a game u should set it to ignore all errors

But I thought that was only true for empty/unused sectors. The sector that CDMage says is corrupt in Animorphs is neither empty nor unused. So is the file in that sector corrupt or what?

it's now 77% through the scanning and at 130,000+ errors. You'd think with this many errors I'd notice something wrong while playing the game in epsxe, but I find nothing. It loads just fine no slowdown, game plays fine, no popping or static in the music. I wonder if the NTSC/PAL patch that was added to it before I got it has something to do with the errors.

    That could be it.
    Heck, it probably is.

And dangwoot, I just tested Animorphs on ePSXe and got the same slowdown at the title screen that Kryptin did. Then I googled to see if anyone had posted anywhere that they had a similar slowdown when playing Animporphs in ePSXe.
    I found nothing.
I have a feeling that file in Animorphs: FINAL.DA is corrupt

    EDIT--
I just scanned Rollcage and found 225 errors, but they were all in sectors that were empty and unused, and I believe this is an example of that copy protection that you mentioned, dangwoot.

So, I guess Rollcage is actually error free.

well the game I'm scanning is it's sequel Rollcage Stage 2 which Toadlord wanted. You probably didn't find anything on Animorphs when searching because its a pretty rare game and not many people try to seek out a game based on a odd schoolastic tv show. If that file is so corrupted why does it run fine on a regular PSX that doesn't make much sense.
